Amy training

Growing up on a ranch Amy’s animal experience started at a very early age. Amy was always bringing something home that needed taking care of or finding an animal on the ranch that needed training. As a young child instead of playing video games or watching TV Amy was training horses, or pigs! As soon as she was old enough she became a volunteer at the Manteca Animal Shelter. While at the Animal shelter she learned to take care of the shelter animals and started thinking about a possible career with animals. It was not long until Amy became a Veterinary Technician. In 1997 Amy joined her first dog obedience class and has been with us ever since!

Amy has titled dogs in both AKC performance and Schutzhund. She is an excellent conformation handler and has shown dogs in both the American Ring as well as German style conformation shows. As an obedience trainer Amy has an excellent eye, and that critical timing to be able to recognize and catch behaviors as soon as they occur. Amy trains Wheel Chair Assistance Dogs as a trainer for the Northern California branch of Canine Support Teams. Amy is the primary consultant for Paws for Friends; an Animal Assisted Therapy Dog Organization. Amy is the lead trainer for B2D2 a company that trains dogs to locate invasive parasites for pest control professionals.

Amy’s “dog on dog” skills are top notch and she has a great ability to help rehabilitate dogs that have issues interacting with other dogs. After discovering Caser Millan’s methods Amy has dedicated a large amount of her time to further understand the issues that make for an unstable pack. Amy is great at helping dog owners understand leadership issues and therefore is able to help give owners the tools they need to reestablish control over way ward dogs. Amy is also involved in Search and Rescue and is an active member of CARDA (California Rescue Dog Association). Her current dog “Inca Vom Fields Haus” is certified in Live Find Area and Human Remains Detection. Amy was on the Sandra Cantu search and continues to be an asset and consultants for the SAR industry.

Being a fundamental part of K9 Development she has had the opportunity to train numerous dogs and handlers for a variety of roles. Over the last 15 years Amy has spent the majority of her time working and caring for dogs. “Shoot”, I think she has even got Jack trained! If Amy can’t train it then the odds are it can’t be done. She is a real asset and a corner stone of what we do here at K9 Development.
